Premium Replacement Windows That Pay for Themselves

ENERGY STAR certified vinyl windows engineered for Mid-Atlantic Climate Zone 4. Cut energy bills 15-30% with lifetime-warranted units installed in 1-2 days.

Replacement Windows for Maryland & Delaware Homes

If your windows are 15+ years old, you are losing significant energy through outdated glass packages, failed seals, and inefficient frame materials. Modern replacement windows deliver immediate benefits across four dimensions: comfort (no more cold drafts in winter or hot spots in summer), energy savings (15-30% on HVAC bills), noise reduction (25-50% quieter), and curb appeal (the single most visible improvement on most homes).

Potomac Custom Remodeling has installed more than 14,000 replacement windows across the Mid-Atlantic. Our standard product is a fusion-welded vinyl frame with Low-E dual-pane argon-filled insulating glass, custom-manufactured to fit each opening exactly, and backed by a lifetime limited manufacturer warranty.

Modern Window Technology — What's Actually Inside the Frame

A modern replacement window is a precision-engineered system. The glass package combines two (or three) panes of low-iron float glass with a microscopic Low-E coating on surface 2 or 3 to reflect infrared heat, an argon (or krypton) gas fill to slow convective heat transfer, and a warm-edge spacer to eliminate the cold-edge effect that causes condensation. The frame is multi-chamber fusion-welded vinyl with optional foam insulation in the chambers — never wood (which rots) or aluminum (which conducts cold).

Insert vs. Full-Frame Replacement

Insert (pocket) replacement installs a new window inside your existing frame — fast, clean, and ideal for homes with sound exterior trim and frames. Full-frame replacement removes the entire window assembly down to the rough opening — necessary when frames show rot, when changing window sizes, or when correcting historical installation defects. We help you choose the right approach during your in-home consultation.

Styles for Every Mid-Atlantic Home

Double-hung (the most common — both sashes operate, tilt-in for cleaning), casement (crank-out for maximum ventilation and tightest seal), sliding (horizontal — popular for bedrooms and basements), picture (fixed for unobstructed views), bay and bow (architectural projection windows), and specialty geometric shapes for transom and accent applications.

0% Interest Financing Available

For qualified homeowners — start enjoying the benefits of new windows immediately while spreading the cost over 12-60 months. Most whole-home projects qualify.

Replacement Windows in Maryland & Delaware — Local Realities

The Mid-Atlantic sits in ENERGY STAR Climate Zone 4 (North-Central), which has very specific U-Factor and SHGC requirements: U-Factor ≤ 0.30 and SHGC ≤ 0.40 for full ENERGY STAR certification. Generic windows shipped to any zip code may not actually meet these specs — we order every project specifically for our climate zone.

Code, Permit & Lead-Paint Realities

Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties require permits for window replacement on most projects. Delaware permits are required statewide. Pre-1978 homes (very common in older Annapolis, Bethesda, and Baltimore-area neighborhoods) trigger EPA RRP lead-safe work practices — every member of our crew is RRP-certified, and we follow full lead-safe containment on qualifying homes.

Coastal Wind Loading

Within 10 miles of the Atlantic coast (Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany, Fenwick), Sussex County requires DP-50+ design pressure ratings on replacement windows. Our standard double-hung exceeds DP-50; coastal projects can specify DP-65 reinforced units.

Insurance & Energy Rebates

Many Mid-Atlantic homeowners insurance policies offer 5-10% premium discounts for impact-rated or storm-rated windows. Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility and Maryland EmPOWER offer rebate programs for ENERGY STAR window upgrades — we provide the documentation needed to claim them.
